Second SPS meeting:

The Second Swedish Proteomics Society Symposium gathered more than 200 participants at the Star hotel in Lund with a highly international panel of speakers. The participants came from both pharma, biotech, industry as well as the academia and hospitals. The first day of the programme with a keynote lecture by Leigh Anderson initiated a lot of discussions about the plasma proteome, links to disease and technology breakthrough in order to generate increased levels of protein annotations. There was a dinner after day one that was followed up by a social get-together in the hotel, allowing informal discussions and interactions among the people. A special programme was set out for the SPS-meeting that allowed close to thirty undergraduate students to participate free of charge. This initiative as well as the symposium as such was supported by: Agilent, Applied Biosystems, Micromass/Waters, Amersham BioTech, ThermoFinnigan and SWEGENE. This support was kindly acknowledged by the Swedish Proteomics Society.
